We, Nurses, urge the Health Minister and NMBI to waive the NMBI Annual Retention Fee -2021.
Ireland is one of the countries with most number of nurses affected by COVID-19.
The detrimental impact of Covid extends to the work and life of nurses. And yet, nurses continue their heroic efforts to provide service to the public. Nurses worked extra hours during the pandemic outbreak times to cover for nurses who were contracted with Covid.

Nurses effort has been widely accepted and received public applause for their service to the country. However, MNI strongly believes that nurses deserve a tangible reward for their exceptional work. Hence, MNI appeals to the NMBI and Health Minister to waive retention fees for this year.

Nurses have been repeatedly praised for their heroic work during this pandemic. Rather than invoking the language of heroism to praise nurses and midwives, they should be much more considered as an expert professionals who are doing their jobs and providing skilled, compassionate care and need consideration from Government.

Hence, we urge the Health Minister and NMBI to waive the NMBI Annual Retention Fee for all the Nurses and Midwives this year.
